Denise B., CNA, BMXO, wears many hats at Orthopedic Specialists: Surgical scheduler for Dr. Alan Graves, medical supply inventory manager, and x-ray technician. You could also call her a mother figure to our many young medical assistants. “The kids started calling me Big D,” she says, pointing to her large gold initial necklace. “And it stuck.”
 
The petite lady with the oversized "D" necklace is a native of northern New Jersey. She was inspired to enter the medical field by her maternal grandmother, who was a strong single mother and registered nurse. Denise came to Orthopedic Specialists several years after getting married and moving to Florida.
 
She had been working for Pinellas County Schools as a nurse to special needs students when she responded to an ad placed by OS for a medical scribe. Her role here has changed over the years and she always pitches in where needed, but her dedication to our doctors and patients is unwavering.
 
“I’m very fortunate to be here. Everyone is like family. We all work together as a team,” she says.
 
Denise is also passionate about the fiber arts, knitting, crocheting, and quilting every chance she gets. If you follow our social media, you might recall her hand-crocheted flamingo holiday ornament that won the 2021 office contest. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, kids, and labradoodle, Harry.
