Dr. Andrew Maser to Retire
After 23 years, board-certified spine specialist Andrew Maser, DO, is retiring on May 26. He leaves behind a legacy of world-class patient care and a trove of fond memories.
‘I’m looking forward to doing some philanthropic work and touring Spain with my wife, but I will miss my patients,” he said recently while reflecting on his career.
Dr. Maser is a graduate of Michigan State University in East Lansing, earning a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He went on to earn his medical degree from the university’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.
After graduating, Dr. Maser completed a rotating internship at Mount Clemens General Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan, then went on to a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Phoenix, Arizona. After his fellowship, he returned to Mount Clemens General Hospital where he completed a residency in orthopedic surgery. He did additional rotations at Wayne State University in Detroit, and Tampa General Hospital and Shriners Healthcare for Children, both in Florida. He finished his training with an orthopedic spine fellowship at the Florida Spine Institute in Clearwater, and joined OS in January 2000.
He has enjoyed privileges at AdventHealth North Pinellas Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He’s also been an active member of numerous professional societies, like the North American Spine Society, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, and the Pinellas County Osteopathic Society.
Dr. Maser said he feels extremely confident leaving the spine portion of the practice to Taylor Beatty, DO, who joined Orthopedic Specialists in September 2021. “I always made it a point that when I left this practice, someone would be here to carry the spine ‘torch.’ I am confident he will deliver an outstanding level of care,” he says.
He will be missed by his many patients, colleagues, peers, and friends, but we wish him all the best on his life’s next chapter.
